Lighting Schemes
Published 27 April 2011 by Andrew

One of the more interesting issues at our Samphire Close site has been designing the lighting schemes. All of the houses are built in compliance with the Code for Sustainable homes – which means that a large proportion of our light fittings need to be eco-friendly.
This itself is a challenge: most eco-friendly light fittings are remarkably ugly, and we had no intention of letting them into our houses! And so, it has been pretty time-consuming trying to find interesting, good-quality fittings which also take energy-saving bulbs as standard.
This challenge, however, was compounded by the striking and unusual design of the houses. All of the upstairs rooms have vaulted ceilings, and some of the downstairs rooms are two-storey in height, and they too have vaulted ceilings (in places more than six metres high!)
So far, we have been very pleased with the results – and comments from those viewing the properties have been glowingly positive.
Really you would have to see the properties in the flesh to appreciate how all of the details of our lighting designs come together…but here’s a particular favourite of mine!
